The falcon was one of ancient Egypt's oldest sacred forms, appearing in temple art, royal imagery, and amulets from the Early Dynastic period onward, c. 3100 BCE. Closely tied to Horus — the sky god shown with outstretched wings — it carried the language of watchfulness and protection. In Egyptian mythology, Isis herself took the falcon form, wings spread wide, as a gesture of shelter.
